Avoid Damp and Mould and Reduce Heat Bills

Here are some TOP TIPS on keeping damp and mould at bay so you can save on heating bills.

• When you are cooking, boiling a kettle use an extractor fan or open a window. Do not let kettles and pans boil unnecessarily. Cover boiling saucepans.
• When having a shower or bath. Close bathroom door and open a window slightly or make sure fan is on for at least 30 minutes after shower or bath.
• When drying clothes indoors, make sure one, but preferably two windows are open to aid moisture to escape and fresh dry
air to enter your home. If possible dry clothes outside.
• To avoid mould on walls, leave a space behind furniture. For example, a wardrobe would need about 1 inch gap from the
wall on all sides of the wardrobe.
• Try to ensure that all rooms receive at least a low level of heat throughout the day. Cold rooms which receive only short burst
of high heat each day can be badly affected by condensation.
• Open living room and bedroom windows for a few minutes each day to allow a change of air.
